Description
NEW! OOP! 5.1 Surround Sound and Stereo, both in Advanced Resolution DVD-Audio Up for auction is an out of print Advanced Resolution DVD-Audio version of Neil Young’s “Harvest". It is brand new, factory cellophane sealed and in Pristine Condition. This Disc plays 4 ways. It is playable on any DVD player using Dolby Digital. It is also playable in DTS 5.1 Surround Sound, which most DVD players also have. Advanced resolution DVD-Audio stereo and 5.1 is only playable on DVD-Audio players. This Disc is not a "DualDisc" or CD and will not play on a CD player! This is an excellent remaster of a great album, and Neil has never sounded so good. My own copy gets a lot of playing time, several times a month, and I have probably 50 DVD-Audio and SACD Discs. I would rate this as a 8.5 out of 10 for sound. It is much better than most of the same era. Soundwise Probably as good as Yes-Fragile and maybe a little better than ELP-Brain Salad Surgery. Some more recent recordings - like Hotel California are a little better still, but not much. If you have a good DVD-Audio player you will be very pleased. Bid with confidence. I have 100% positive feedback as both a buyer and seller. Your disc will be shipped the first business day after payment received, and I will pack your factory sealed disc in a padded envelope to avoid any damage. Domestic shipping and handling is $3.00. Insurance is optional, but recommended. If you choose to insure domestically, I am using the established USPS rate for up to $100 coverage and the full $2.15 will be spent on your item. To insure international shipments I will send via registered mail. USPS registered and insured first class mail to Europe is by weight and for this CD about $16.00. USPS international flat rate envelope priority mail is quicker and cheaper at $11.95, but not insured. Good luck! It also features some of his darker compositions, like the entropy-obsessed "Old Man" and the junkie eulogy, "The Needle and the Damage Done," one of Young's most haunting and compelling songs.Deceptively laid-back-sounding country-rock plaints like "Out on the Weekend" and the title cut caress the ear unassumingly, pulling you into the more ominous subtext that is present even in the rollicking "Are You Ready for the Country." As always, Young has an ear for contrasts, laying down heavy rock ("Alabama") beside his balladry, and even employing the London Symphony Orchestra on the excellent confessional "A Man Needs a Maid." Due to back troubles, Young recorded much of this material while wearing a brace, a fact that seems audible in the tension and unease that underlies the friendly, acoustic surface of this superb release.
